Who is it for?
Helena’s California is for people who are interested in reading about people, places and things that are not usually found in guides to California. If you live in California you might find a thing or two you didn’t know about in Helena’s California. If you don’t live in California and are thinking of visiting, then my blog is for those of you who like the road less traveled. If you just like to read about interesting things then Helena’s California has stories, photos and videos that should keep you entertained.
What’s it about?
Helena’s California is about what interests me in California. Often it’s my British take on things that shape this blog; I’m amazed by the sheer wildness and rawness of the landscape, the awe of untrammeled space, extremes of climate found side by side, the endless miles of unpaved empty roads and not a village with a tea shop anywhere in sight.
And then there is the unexpected; people, places and things I’ve discovered and would never know existed if I didn’t live here – things that often confound the conventional perception of life in California and that few people know about. It’s this wild and unfamiliar California that I capture and share with readers of my blog.
